Everywhere in the world we are exposed to “natural” radiation.
During an overseas flight, that exposure is significantly higher.

Medical x-rays, used to improve diagnosis, are used for:

  • classic x-rays
  •

  • mammography
  •

  • CT scan

No x-rays are used for ultrasound and NMR.
The radiologist, the X-ray techniques, but also the modern equipment, will ensure that you receive the lowest possible dose.
In patients with a high risk, namely pregnant women and young children, one will only use X-rays in very strictly defined cases.
Therefore: please report any pregnancy, or suspicion of pregnancy, to the radiologist.
Always report an existing allergy in planned contrast studies (IVP).
